Also a small change to our opening times as we will know be opening on Thursday at 1 instead of 12. The new raid Magtheridon’s Lair should be out in the shop by Tuesday with an awesome loot pack and even the chance of finding that tiger…..

It was an interesting affair this month as there were some new faces and some old ones who have made a re-appearance which was very welcoming.

Next month we will be back at the Telepost club on the 6th of January which should have given you plenty of time to sort out those Christmas presents and got that killer deck in order.

At the same time there will be a World of Warcraft Lazy Peon event - thats one with only commons and uncommons in your deck - which should be very interesting.

Twas the eve of the midwinter feast. Menoth were happily spraying everything with incense, Cygnar were out at target practice (just for a change), Cryx were - well these are better of not descibed and Khador were knee deep in snow chopping wood for the furnaces. No matter what they were doing, all were thinking of the next day and what Father Cryxmass was going to bring. Then from out of the gloom came the rumor, no-one knew from whence it had come but it was a message that non in the world could ignore. Cryxmass had been stolen!!!

But not all was yet lost. Where the big bag of presents was being guarded had become common knowledge (deep in the snowy lands of Khador) but who was guarding it and for whom was not. So the race was on to get to the presents and claim the item on your christmas list.

Muster your forces and get ready for the Cryxmass event you will never forget. This is a participation game organised by arch warmachine player Phil Davies. With a points system to decide who will win the special Christmas (correct spelling this time) trophy and is being held in the Cavern at a date to be announced. There will be a full snow scenery board to play on and surprises in store for those who attend.

Day 2 of the fromal announcement of the BIG project and I am pleased to report that I am not the only foolish mortal who thinks that this is a really cool idea.

To date we have the following participants in the great venture…

Dave Seago - a collecter and officiando of all things GW for many a year, he is a very good painter and can knock out scratch built scenery faster than you can recite the complete collection of Dan Abnett’s books. Dave is going to handle the 10th company who are the scouts, as well as have a hand in the character elements of the chapter.

Rhys Knight - a dude and half is Rhys. Not only has he had a second place at Golden Demon in 2006 for his Ork tank…

but he also sells bits from his Wookie Hole site for all those of you who want to customise your armies but without the expense of buying complete sprues from GW Mail Order. Rhys has comitted to the 5th company and some terminators.

Craig - Dentons uncle. Went to see Craig the other day and was blown away by his collection. Craig is a true hobbyist and I know that we can count on his support for this. Amongst pride of place in the collection is a Forge World Thunderhawk - I loved it.

Simon Mansell - the big, mean, blue painting machine - Simon has already got a large collection of second company and I am told is ready and willing to lend them, thanks Simon.

Brad Shepper - a regular in the store, Brad is going to update on what he can do but there are rumors of a lot of marines ready to join which ever company is in need. I have suggested to Brad that we should do some painting days in the near future to get the ball rolling.

Nick Muir - has an extensive collection of 40k and is a painter of some reknown - still got to pin Nick down on specifics but he has already lent me the Astartes book for reference information.

Well its kind of a plan…..

There was a Space Marines codex - the one before the current edition if memory serves me correctly - that had a picture of a complete chapter together with a couple of Thunderhawks to ferry the band of brothers around. Talk about inspirational, I can remember looking at it and thinking ‘that it is fantastic but what kind of a nutter would ever want to have that many models in a game’.

Time has moved on and it turns out that I am that kind of a nutter (I secretly always knew it but was in denial) and the 40K Apocalypse is my great enabler. Not only would you be able to field an entire chapter but actually play a game with them - oh joy unbounded!!!!

Now there are two problems to this

It’s a lot of models, just the scouts, marines and terminators kicks in at 1,000 models at full strength and that is without any Rhino’s or Dreadnaughts or…..

where can you play such a game - this needs a large table area

There is a solution

Ultramarines - these guys are the archetypal marines and most of us have at least a few of them, some of us have more than just a few, Dave, Simon, Craig for example. This means that should we plan it then we could get together the basis of the force and then look to fill in the gaps - I will be making a list and trawling around to see who is able and willing to help in this great adventure

The new store - when we finally get in there - this is the place where we will have the room and the table space to display the force and then play a game. I envisage the mother of all participation games where we have a scenario of the marines defending a monastry and its come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough…

Just to get the ball rolling I have acquired a Space Marine Company boxed set from the Apocalypse release and am happily gluing, undercoating and painting up the third compay.

If you want to follow the madness as it unfolds then keep coming back as I will be posting more on here as it happens.

Now is your chance to get your decks prepared and practice against the guys in store who are proving themselves at the game. In order to get ready for it we will be running more tournaments and I know that Guy Jones is proposing to hold a booster draft event for the Wrestling card players at the Telepost club on 4th November - anyone who is up for that and is not interested in the Yu-Gi-Oh sneak peak should take note.

No, its nothing to do with Marlon Brando and Martin Sheen but I can gurantee that if they have ever played Warhammer 40k then they would want to get into this.

I have to say that I did have my doubts at first - you know the sort of thing; Games Workshop, great models but surely isn’t this just an excuse to sell more of the same old stuff to the existing customers. Then I opened the Baneblade and acquired a ‘Shop’ copy of the rule book.

Oh my, oh my - this is cool in a way that only loads of painted miniatures on a BIG table can be. From the Baneblade to all the unit boxed sets this represents not only a time limited sale by Games Workshop but also a way to get al those models out and play a huge game and play a huge game we will.

It is just a good thing that we are building all those new large tables ready for the new store but I am so tempted to get them out before that and have a go at Apocalypse right now…… if anyone wants to join me then lust let me know.

Who would have believed it - Guy Jones that mild mannered and all around good chap has won a UK Wrestling title. We shouldn’t be really too surprised as Guy was in last year’s final also.

Of course this is the WWE Raw Deal card game which is played on the first Sunday of every month down at the Telepost club on Town Walls. Officianados of this monthly gathering will be unsurprised at Guy’s success as he has consistently been one of the top players for the last 6 years.

Guy now gets an expenses paid trip to the States to watch Wrestlemania live (I don’t think he will be in the ring but watch out on the tele) all this after he has played the card game in the world finals. So who knows, maybe we will have our own World Champion within the next six months.

So when you see Guy in the store next time, or anywhere else for that matter, congratulate him and wish him luck. But look out, as I know for a fact that he has been working hard on his WoW deck….
